TESPIS MAGAZINE

I did recently re-launch Tespis Magazine on the internet. Tespis was an Arts and Entertainment Magazine for the Latino community that I published in 2002-2003. It is so far in Spanish but i will incorporate English as well in due time. Please take a look and let me know what you think! LANDSCAPES BW - PAISAJES BN

I am very happy to report that I have sold the first two pictures from Bali in this entry!!! They are now in Aspen, Colorado. They are 12 x 18 inches, printed on premium semi-gloss paper. They look amazing people!
With these landscapes , I am working with BW, warm tints and infrared effects. The pictures were taken in Bali, Indonesia and in New York City and Up-State. Bali is an island with several volcanoes. The first picture was taken on a hike I took to Mt. Batur ( and Lake Batur ). Here lava is being transformed into life as plants are on their way to repopulate the whole basin. Lake Batur, to the right of the picture, is a big one and is surrounded by a fertile valley. Vegetables, fruits and fish are plentiful. People are shy and friendly. Walking on lava requieres attention: very sharp edges and unstable terrain. The vastness is magnificent! The second pictures was taken from around Ubud is is either Mt Batur or Mt Agung, the tallest volcano in the island. From the rice fields looks imponent.
Back in New York, I took the third pic in Central Park, winter of 2005, remember that huge winter storm? right! snow plentiful in the Rambles. The fourth is Battery Park at sunset. The sun behing the lamp post. Finaly, I took this one upstate on a hiking trip with a group of my friends: Christine and her father, Mike, Steve, Rob and Marc Henry. It was a great day to explore New York.

Muy contento de decirles que he vendido las dos primeras fotos de Bali que ven arriba!!! Estan ahora en Aspen, Colorado. Impresas a 12 x 18 pulgadas en papel premium semi-gloss. Pueden ver dos famosos volcanos en Bali: Monte Batur y Monte Agung ( el mas alto de la isla). Fua cerca de Batur, en donde la lava se transforma en vida con la capa vegetal cubriendlo todo de nuevo. Se debe tener cuidado al caminar sobre la lava, pues tiene muchos filos y terreno inestable. La inmensidad is magnifica!!! Batur cuenta con un lago bastante grande ( a la derecha de la foto ) con un valley muy rico en donde vegetales, frutas y pesca es abundante La gente es timida y agradable. Las fotos de Nueva York fueron tomadas en el invierno del 2005 en las Ramblas del Parque Central. Despues tenemos un atardecer en Battery Park ( sur de Manhattan) y por ultimo una caminata en las montanas al norte del Estado de Nueva York. Un dia fenomenal con mis amigos.

These are new photographs taken in Hong Kong and Beijing. Central, in Hong Kong is full of amazing buildings. This floating plaza was taken in Queens Road East on an amazing blue and cloudy sky, reflecting on the glass tower. I did fix the optical distortion a bit ( wide at the base, narrow at the top) to get this effect. The other photograph is the Chinese National Theater in Beijing. I was about to be inaugurated when i was there and as you can see, is a beauty. I waited for the sunset to get this effect. I did some versions on B&W and sepia and I flipped the image to be able to create a mirror effect. These pictures will look amazing on any wall. Maybe yours!

Estas dos nuevas fotografias fueron tomadas en Hong Kong y en Pekin. En Central, el cenro de HK esta lleno de edificios espectaculares. Esta plaza flotante esta en la calle Queen Este. Tomada en un dia de cielo azul y nubes, y la refleccion sobre la torre de vidrio. Corregi la distorsion optica ( ancho en la base,angosto en la cima) para conseguir este efecto. La otra foto es del teatro Nacional Chino en Pekin. Estuve alli antes de ser inagurado y,como ven, es una belleza. Espero el atardecer para lograr este effecto. FOTOTECA DEL TACHIRA, VENEZUELA

The Fototeca is hosting a group show to celebrate its 15th Anniversary. The show will be on display until the end of December and I have two of my pictures in the show. I am very pleased because my family lives in San Cristobal, Tachira State's capital city. My mother, Miriam, is specially thrilled!

The Incense Coils is a take on the picture that is on display at NEST Interiors. The rice field sky was taken around Ubud, the cultural center of Bali after a day when I walked and got lost in the maze of beautiful rice fields

GALLERY 225

Gallery 225's new group show is called A GIFT OF ART. I have three beautiful pictures in it! The idea of the show is to present the art only on 12 x 12 inches format. The gallery is located at 225 West 14th Street ( bet 7th/8th Ave). The show runs until Dec 24, 2008 and has from drawings to paintings to ceramics. And of course my three photos!

I took these three photos in China. The bridge is beautiful and it was taken us to the beach in the New Territories, an area of Hong Kong on the Chinese mainland. The Incense Coils shot was taken at the Man Mo Temple in Central, downtown Hong Kong. Is one of the oldest temple in town and that particular day, the light playing with the shapes and the smoke...simply wonderful. I have another one of these pictures at NEST Interiors ( seee post below ) The last photo was taken in Shanghai. A hotel with a bar on the 11th floor or so. I was having a drink with friends and this is the view above my head! the effect is hipnotizing... tatatataaaaaa....

La Galeria 225 ha montado una muestra colectiva llamada A GIFT OF ART ( Regalo de Arte ). Tengo tres fotos en la muestra. La galeria esta ubicada en Nueva York, 225 West 14th Street. Si estan en la ciudad, pasen a visitar!
Las fotos fueron tomadas en Hong Kong y en Shanghai. La primera es un puente bellisimo en HK que nos llevab, ese dia, a la playa en una zona conocida como Los Nuevos Territorios (hacia la frontera con China), la segunda fue tomada en el Templo man Mo chino en la parte central de HK, el juego de la luz, el humo y los inciensos era de pelicula!. la tercera foto en un hotel en Shanghai, en un bar en el piso 11. Estaba tomandome un trago con amigos y esta es la vista sobre mi cabeza! hipnotizante!

I love these two pictures. The first one is one of my first photographs. It was taken in the winter on 2005. The Coils, at this old temple in the middle of Hong Kong, was taken at the end of the afternoon. The smoke and the coils playing with the light coming in from windows at the top and to the sides was amazing! What do you think?
